Salt Pond Sunday

Shellfishing at Salt Pond has become a tradition for many individuals. Most popular in the summer months for quahogs and in the fall for oysters. Salt Pond is open to shellfishing on Sundays only at the designated times and location. Please be aware of the open and closure signs. If there is a "closed" to shellfish sign, this is because it is currently unsafe to harvest and consume shellfish. If there is no time listed on the schedule, then shellfishing is open one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset, as long as the estuary is open. Please note if a closure sign is posted the harvest of shellfish is prohibited.
