The mission of the Eastham Fire Department is to protect the lives and property of the residents and visitors of the Town of Eastham. Our mission is to protect Eastham from fires, natural and man-made disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing emergency medical services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; to provide defense against terrorist attacks; and to provide a work environment that values cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
What We Do/Who We Are
The Eastham Fire Department provides fire and emergency medical services (EMS) to the Town of Eastham, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
The department has 23 career personnel, including a Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, and a civilian Administrative Assistant. These personnel work Monday through Fridays 8 am to 4pm. The remaining 20 personnel work a rotating schedule of 24 hour shifts of five personnel each. Each career member of the fire department is cross-trained in firefighting and EMS, with 14 Firefighter/Paramedics and eight Firefighter/EMT-Basics.
The Eastham Fire Rescue Department operates out of one station with a combination of 13 pieces of apparatus and equipment. We respond on average to 1,800 calls for service annually.
Operating within a broad range of services, the department responds to not only fire and medical emergencies, but we also respond to fire alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, motor vehicle accidents, beach / water rescues, hazardous material spills, technical rescues, boating emergencies, investigations and citizen assists.
The Eastham Fire Department is committed to providing fire and life safety services to the entire community. One way the Fire Department provides such services is through aggressive Fire Prevention and Public Education programs. The Eastham Fire Rescue Department works closely with all other town departments to provide a safe community to live, work and vacation in.
