Love the outdoors? Want a hands-on role protecting Eastham’s beaches, waterways, and natural resources? The Town of Eastham Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Seasonal Natural Resources Officer to join our team for an active, rewarding summer season.

This position is ideal for someone pursuing—or considering—a career in natural resources, conservation, environmental management, marine sciences, or criminal justice, and offers real world experience working directly in the field.

What You’ll Do

You’ll spend most of your time outdoors and on the water supporting critical natural resource operations, including:
Assisting with municipal shellfish management (aquaculture, commercial, and recreational harvesting)
Supporting shellfish propagation operations, including work at the upweller facility
Helping maintain beaches, conservation lands, shellfish areas, and herring runs
Assisting with waterways, harbors, landings, and vessel storage areas
Interacting professionally with the public and helping educate residents and visitors
Working independently while also taking direction from multiple supervisors
Supporting other Natural Resources initiatives, including animal and occasional wildlife related matters

This is a physically active role that requires working in salt marshes, on beaches, and over uneven terrain, standing or walking for much of the workday, moving comfortably and safely on boats and lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds when necessary. Hours and days of work vary. Weekends and Holidays required. Pre-employment physical, drug test, CORI and SORI checks are required upon offer of a position. The Eastham Department of Public Works is looking for motivated, dependable, and hardworking individuals to join our DPW/Sanitation Division for the summer season. If you enjoy working outdoors, being part of a team, and making a visible impact in your community, this is a great opportunity for you!

As a Seasonal DPW Laborer, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping Eastham clean, safe, and running smoothly. Work includes a variety of essential public works and sanitation tasks that support our residents and visitors throughout the busy summer months.

Duties may include:

Assisting with transfer station operations and maintenance
Supporting street and roadside maintenance, including pothole repair and cleanup
Maintaining parks, cemeteries, and municipal properties
Loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment
Operating hand tools and small power equipment
Helping with special projects, community events, and emergency response as needed

Ability to perform physical work outdoors in varying conditions
