EASTHAM COUNCIL ON AGING
Minutes of the Board Meeting May 19, 2011
Betty Beard called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M. Members present were Sandra Szedlak, COA Director, Betty Beard, Stephanie Whalen, Fran Perkins, Dee Higgins, Lucile Cashin, Tess McAlpine, Peggy Lynn, Thomas Hawko, Pauline McGaughey & Marge Sturm (COA reps to FECOA). Carol DiBona and Vicky Anderson were absent. Vicky Anderson had submitted her resignation (full-time employment with the Town) to the Board of Selectmen earlier in the week.
A motion was made by Thomas Hawko to accept the minutes of the April 21, 2011 meeting. This was seconded by Stephanie Whalen. The vote was unanimous.
Director’s Report:
- Following a positive vote on the Town override, our new secretary (Jillian Benilli) will begin work on June 1, 2011.
- Both the Cape Cod Times and The Cape Codder have been publicizing our events quite regularly in recent weeks. Cindy Dunham has been working on this.
- A thank you note has been sent to The Four Points Sheraton regarding our Volunteer Luncheon. Many positive comments were received.
- There will be a joint FECOA-COA meeting on May 26 to review procedures for requests. A discussion was held on the role of the FECOA.
Committee Reports:
Kitchen redo - Stephanie Whalen has been in contact with the commercial range supplier in Fall River. We are checking on the correct electrical configuration. Flooring has been difficult to choose. Stephanie is still working on this aspect. Work should begin in the kitchen around June 1, 2011.
Programs – The Health Fair was announced – this will take place on Friday, May 20th.
Old Business - None
New Business – Invitation to the High School Choruses performance, May 19th, 7:00 pm at St. Joan of Arc.
A motion was made by Thomas Hawko to adjourn the meeting at 10:46 A.M. It was seconded by Stephanie Whalen. The vote was unanimous.
